No change expected in Russian oil transit volume via Belarus in 2017

Belneftekhim Concern hopes that oil transit volumes will remain at the same level in 2017, said Belneftekhim Deputy Chairperson Natalia Leichenko, belarusian BelTA reported on May 17, 2017.

The oil transit volumes were practically the same in 2016 as in 2015. We hope the volume of oil transit transportation will remain at the same level in 2017 as well, Natalia Leichenko said.

According to her, about a 3rd of all Russian oil exports is pumped through Belarus.

In 2016 around 72.1 million tonnes of Russian oil was pumped, of which 52.5 million tonnes was transit oil.

With regard to the supply of oil to the Belarusian refineries, Natalia Leichenko said there was a decline from 20 million tonnes in 2015 to around 18 million tonnes in 2016.

Gomeltransneft Druzhba and Polotsktransneft Druzhba invest heavily in the pipeline system maintenance.

Today we are ready to pump as much crude oil as Russia is ready to supply in our direction, Natalia Leichenko said.
