Gazprom's Olympia: Sochi

The Gazprom’s subsidiary builds up Sochi with luxury hotels. Neftegaz.RU journalists were informed that Gazprom will put in commission a luxury village in Krasnaya Polyana, which is near to the site of the Olympic Games 2014, approximately by this November.

We remind you that Gazprominvestarena got 30 hectares in the valley of the Achipse river (including 18 hectares for house lots) and 95 hectares on the Psekhako ridge at the height of 1400 meters for a ski resort. But unlike other companies and private individuals which began to invest in the development of the resort only after they had learnt that Sochi would be the Olympic city, GAZPROM had been constructing since the 1990s of the last century.

Thus, the company participated in the erecting of Radisson SAS Lazurnaya, then Radisson SAS Lazurnaya Peak Hotel in Krasnaya Polyana. The design works of tourist’s center construction, village and ski routes started in 2002. About 1000 people will be able to live on the territory of the luxury village. There are 6 separate big cottages, 26 smaller cottages and four-star Grand Hotel Park of 220 bed spaces. Also there are provided helipad, multilevel parking, entertaining center, apartment house for personnel of 24 apartments, laundry, fire-station, factory, kitchen, etc.

“This village can be easily used for holding various summits including the Big Eight”, Viktor Khrekov, spokesman of the administrator of the president said.
What, by the way, can come in being in 2014. Anyway the House of Reception, a four-storeyed wooden building finished with valuable timber tree, marble and gilding has already been constructed, furnished by Versace and illuminated with large crystal chandeliers. On the first floor there are swimming pool, saunas and fitness center; on the second and third flour there are four apartments; and on the forth one there are bar, billiards and restaurant. There are two conference halls in the building with the national symbol of the Russian Federation on the walls. On a conservative estimate, the company invested more than 100 million dollars in the luxury village.

The first phase of the Gazprom’s construction project in Sochi is to be finished in 2008. The construction of the Olympic ski stadium and a services complex is planned to be finished by 2010. The company will invest 2.8 billion rubles in the construction of a 1000-room hotel, while two Olympic units: 20 000 places biathlon complex (257,3 million rubles) and 16 000 places ski complex (171,5 million rubles) will be invested by the government. Besides, Gazprom as a builder and investor, and, consequently, interested party, suggested converting the motor transport of Sochi to the ecologically clean compressed natural gas, what will reduce pollution and in the same time bring extra income to the companies.
Today there is only one automobile gas-filling compressor station in Sochi. However, Gazprom is ready to build nineteen more on a tight schedule. Well, whether the expenses are recovered or not, we will know in 7 years only. Meanwhile we just believe that the city will become the world-known resort.

“Sochi is being actively developed now, at the present time, that’s why Gazprom will do its best to save the city from the pollution and exhaust gases,” said Bogdan Budzuljak, member of Gazprom’s BOD and chief of the Department of gas transportation.
