Interview with Fahmy H. Al-Musharfy, Planning and Economics manager, Daleel Petroleum L.L.C.)

Is it possible for foreign oil players to work on the Oman's oil market?

Fahmy H. Al - Musharfy: Yes. There are many foreign companies.

And what about Russian companies?

Fahmy H. Al - Musharfy: Not yet, not yet.

Are there any prospects of future collaboration between the Russian and the Middle East oil companies?

Fahmy H. Al - Musharfy: Yes, why not?

How does your company solve the environmental problems emerging during the development of the oil projects?

Fahmy H. Al - Musharfy: We have our own ecological system developed. In that system there is a component for environmental management as we have to work in compliance with environmental law. Environmental regulations are controlled by the Ministry of Environment. So we are in touch with the Ministry. We have the budget to outsource some of the activities to consult us. We need to monitor if there is anything, like pro-active action that can cause damage, we take care of that and prevent potential problems. Basically it is integrated within the management system and the management promptly gets advice of any environmental situation where they have to come with the solution or being prepared not to commit any mistake. It could cost a lot of money. For our operations it is basic to handle the waters and the pollution from the gas purifying plus oil leakages, you know.

What is the fair price for the crude oil today?

Fahmy H. Al - Musharfy: I think it should be about 50$.
